Chesham Stakes: First Prophet
Ran well at Newbury on debut in almost identical conditions. Hard to know how good he is; early pace was slow but visually he impressed travelling strongly through the race.
There doesn’t appear to be any outstanding horses in the Chesham but First Prophet could be a good one - perhaps even better than the trainer thinks!
He handled similar rain softened (but good) conditions on debut at Newbury and easily saw out the 7f, therefore conditions for this race should suit.
The overall time was nothing spectacular but the pace wasn’t strong. First Prophet finished the race well, having travelled noticeably better than those around him. We are guessing how he comes out of a race six days ago but the rest are in the same boat and at least we get a price.
