Cheltenham Tips: Sanctuaire
Scottish Champion hurdle winner in April and seemingly back to his best after a breathing operation.
The Greatwood Hurdle (2.20 Cheltenham) has been won by some classy types in recent years. Menorah and Khyber Kim both took the race before running well in the Champion Hurdle and Sanctuaire could be added to the list.
He was a fine winner of the Fred Winter juvenile hurdle back at the 2010 Festival but then lost his way but he had a breathing operation on the 26th January and that brought him back to his best.
He went on to win the Scottish Champion hurdle after the operation and that sets the standard in the race. On his last start he was pulled up at Sandown but that run can be ignored as he pulled too hard in a four runner field.
Trainer Paul Nicholls has admitted the horse is a bit of a boyo, but with a guaranteed strong pace he can continue his comeback at 14/1 with Paddy Power.
