Triumph Hurdle Preview

The latest odds, trends and preview of the Triumph Hurdle.

Triumph Hurdle Betting Preview

Race Type: Hurdle

Distance: 2m 1f

Race Profile: Only four year old novice hurdlers are allowed to race in the Triumph, giving the younger generation a chance to shine at the Festival. Katchit used the race as a spring board to the Champion Hurdle the following year. But just as often the winners don’t progress to be top class.

Ten Year Trends:

2 of the last 10 favourites have won.
9 of the last 10 winners had won their last race.
Only 1 Irish horse has won in the last 10 years.
The average starting price of the winner is 10/1

Race Preview: Typically a wide open betting heat, picking the winner can be a fraught affair. With so many horses at the start of their careers they are capable of massive improvements come Festival time. Grandouet heads the betting after coming second in the Triumph trial back in November. The big springer in the market is Zarkandar. A half brother to Arc winner Zarkava he was a revelation on his hurdling debut, winning the Adonis at Kempton, he could be anything.

Our Verdict: Zarkandar
