RSA Chase Preview

The latest odds, trends and preview of the RSA Chase.

RSA Chase Betting Preview

Race Type: Chase

Distance: 3m 1/2f

Race Profile: Run over three miles the RSA is a solid test of staying novices’ ability. Many former winners go on to contest the following year’s Gold Cup. The last horse to do this was Denman, following up his 2007 RSA Chase win with victory in the 2008 Gold Cup.

Ten Year Trends:

3 of the last 10 favourites have won.
10 of the last 10 winners had finished in the top two of their last race.
10 of the last 10 winners had raced at least three times that season.
8 of the last 10 winners have been aged seven.
The average starting price of the winner is 11/1

Race Preview: One of the weakest looking Grade Ones with Time For Rupert the clear favourite. The Cheltenham specialist has won three of his five starts at the track but is yet to win a big Hurdle or Novice Chase. Mikael D’Haguenet was supposed to dominate the division but has badly struggled over the big obstacles and is out to 14/1. With no outstanding horse showing his hand, the race could go to an unexposed outsider.

Our Verdict: Bostons Angel
