Neptune Novices Hurdle Betting Preview

Race Type: Hurdle

Distance: 2m 5f

Race Profile: Formerly known as the Ballymore Novices Hurdle and the Royal & Sun Alliance before that, the race is newly sponsored by Neptune Investment. Run over two and a half miles it provides a test of both speed and stamina.

Ten Year Trends:

Only 1 of the last 10 favourites have won.
7 of the last 10 winners had won their last race.
6 of the last 10 winners had raced at least three times that season.
10 of the last 10 winners have been aged five or six.
The average starting price of the winner is 9/1

Race Preview: Duel Grade One winner, Oscars Well heads the betting after his recent win at Leopardstown where he had Zaidpour behind him. Unbeaten hurdler Bobs Worth is next in the betting after winning his Cheltenham Trial. He is bidding to be Nicky Henderson’s first victory in the race after 21 attempts. With Zaidpour disappointing, So Young seems to be Willie Mullins’ first string, but he will need to step up on his current form.

Our Verdict: Oscars Well
