A 4-mile slog in heavy ground for amateurs might not seem the most attractive betting proposition but I really like the chances of No Comment in the 4.50 contest.

Twelve months ago he finished a creditable seventh in the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle and that course experience could prove invaluable. It’s still very early days for No Comment and his chase career but he wasn’t disgraced when over-faced in the Grade 1 Scilly Isles Chase at Sandown. He was beaten 30-lengths but the form of the race looks strong and he jumped well.

As a hurdler he stayed 3-miles therefore it’s not unfathomable that he gets the 4-mile trip around Cheltenham. The assistance of Derek O’Connor in the saddle is another positive and he should run well.
