Connections must have seen something in Poetic Imagination after her second place at Chelmsford in January because her overall profile looks limited. 48,000gns for a 72-rated maiden seems on the steep side but the change in trip is key.
Poetic Imagination has spent most of her young career running at 7f but she has plenty of speed as she showed when cutting out the running at Chelmsford over 6f. The extra furlong, combined by a prolonged battle for the lead saw her tire an eventually get caught but there was plenty of promise.
A drop to 5f makes sense and she could dominate this small field.
