Catterick Tips: Red Cape

Most of his competition is hopeless and this previous course and distance winner should get a soft lead.

The 2.10 Catterick looks a relatively simple problem to solve. Cymeriad, Isle of Ellis, Karate Queen and Myjestic Melody haven’t mustered a win between them in 106 starts and are easily ignored.

That leaves a match race between Fathsta and Red Cape.

The bookmakers have made Fathsta favourite because he is best off at the weights but conditions are unlikely to suit him. He hasn’t won a 6f race on good to firm ground since he was a two-year-old and on a sharp track he might lack the necessary speed.

Red Cape has plenty of pace; he is a previous course and distance winner and likes to front run. There is a good chance he gets a soft lead and can dictate the race.

James Sullivan gets on well with the horse, winning 7-34 races and he should know exactly what fractions Red Cape is capable of setting. His only ride of the day should be a winning one.
