Catterick Tips: Indian Trail

Struggled to find his ground in the last few years but the sun should have dried out the track.

The market has got the 8.05 Catterick completely wrong. There is no way Select Committee should be favourite; he lacks the pace for a sharp five furlongs with his wins coming on the much stiffer track at Beverley. He is also 0/15 in class 4 races.

Lucky Numbers is another to take on. He ran poorly when well backed at Ripon in April and conditions have turned against him since, as he enjoys cut in the ground.

With the top-two in the market accounted for, there is plenty of value elsewhere, with Indian Trail the best of the bunch. He hasn’t won since 2009 but retained enough ability to place in some competitive class 4 handicaps last summer.

He is also a horse who needs good to firm ground. He is 7/33 on good to firm and 1/47 on anything softer. At the time of writing, the official going description is good but after a sun baked day expect it to be riding quicker.

This is the first time he’s raced on good to firm at class 4 level for a couple of years and he looks the value at 11/1 (Paddy Power)
