Catterick Tips: Gottcher

Tumbled down the weights but showed signs of a revival on his last start. On his best form he is the class act in the race.

The 7.45 Catterick should be fast and furious and with the majority of the pace drawn low, the far side looks the place to be. Gottcher is well drawn in stall 6 and if he can get anywhere near his 3-year-old form he should win this low grade contest.

Last season he reached a peak rating of 80, winning two races along the way. Unfortunately it all went wrong at the end of the year, finishing practically last in four consecutive races. The way his form deteriorated suggested some sort of physical ailment and it was no surprise that he started his 2012 campaign quite late, with his seasonal reappearance in June.

His Nottingham performance at the beginning of the month hinted at a revival after finishing 3.25 lengths behind the winner, earning his best Racing Post Rating for 11 months. At the odds it is worth banking on further progress because, at his best, Gottcher can win this race.
