Catterick Tips: Bondesire

Ran well over 6f last time out when going off too quick. Better for a step down in trip and unbeaten in two 5f starts.

With the majority of the older horses near the peak of their handicap marks the 3.40 Catterick should go to a 3-year-old. The difficult question is which one.

Aetna ‘won’ her side of the race at Ayr but that is factored into her price because she was such an obvious eye-catcher, so instead I’ve gone with Bondesire.

David O’Meara’s filly has won both her starts over 5f and she was particularly impressive winning two starts back at Ripon when she was forced to switch round Jofranka who wasn’t stopping at the time.

Connections have tried her over 6f on numerous occasions with limited success. She often pulls too hard over a longer trip and the change of tactics at York didn’t help either. In making the running, her early fractions were too fast and she had nothing left in reserve when swamped by the hold-up horses.

This afternoon she reverts to 5f, which is her optimal trip and she should run much better than her quote of 16/1 (Betfred).
