Carlisle Tips: Imperial Vic

Looks a progressive chaser and gets plenty of weight from his main rivals. Stamina not in question either.

The 2.25 Carlisle is the race of the day, with Grand National runner-up Cappa Bleu making his seasonal reappearance. Trainer Evan Williams says we won’t see the best of Cappa Bleu today and that makes sense if Aintree is his main target.

That narrows down an already small field, leaving Imperial Vic as the standout bet. The least experienced chaser in the race, he benefits by getting lumps of weight from similarly rated horses.

An extremely consistent performer, who stays well, I’m not overly concerned by the heavy ground. He was only touched off by 0.25 lengths on his last start, with the winner going on to score again.

He looks a 150+ chaser in the making and this looks like the perfect opportunity to get another win under the belt at 13/8 (Boylesports)
