Captain Chris Moves in Arkle Betting

Captain Chris has been the main ante-post mover with his odds cut for the Arkle Trophy at this year's Cheltenham Festival.

Punters have been getting stuck into Captain Chris in the Arkle betting. A 20/1 shot yesterday the Philip Hobbs novice is now as short as 12/1 in places.

Entered to run in the Scilly Isles Chase at Sandown on Saturday, punters might be anticipating a good run and getting in before his form is revealed to the masses. However Captain Chris isn’t a certainty to run and the trainer may wait if the ground is not suitable, saying: “Captain Chris is very good at the moment. We want to run him in the Scilly Isles but he just can’t act on soft ground so the way things are looking at the moment, we’ll have to give it a miss and wait for the Pendil at Kempton at the end of the month.” (Source: PA)

Also entered at Sandown is current fourth choice in the Arkle betting; Medermit and RSA Chase hopeful Reve De Sivola. It must be noted that no horse in the last ten years has won the Scilly Isles Chase and gone on to taste success at the Festival in March.
