Brighton Tips: Bestfootforward

Impressive winner on her first start for Julia Feilden and has option of coming up the stand’s rail from a wide draw.

The official going description at Brighton is ‘good to soft, good in places’ but a GoingStick reading of 6.5 suggests there is plenty of juice in the ground.

The going is a crucial piece of the jigsaw because when it comes up soft the stand’s side is the best place to race. With 16 runners declared for the 1.50 contest the field will be spread across the track therefore, I expect those drawn high to gravitate to the stand’s side rail.

Bestfootforward was 5-length winner on her last start at Brighton and drawn in stall 14 she can tack over to the stand’s side.

Julia Feilden has revitalised the horse, who had shown nothing for her previous trainer and rated a lowly 56 there is plenty of scope in her handicap mark.

This will be her first start at 6f but she showed enough pace over 7f to suggest she can cope with the drop in trip. Talented apprentice Shelley Birkett takes the ride and if she exploits a good draw she should win at 7/2 (Boylesports).
