Brighton Tip: Spic ‘N Span

Saves his best turf performances for Brighton. A good third last time at the track.

The 5.00 at Brighton is a real losers convention. The six remaining runners have a combined record on turf of 3 wins from 119 starts. Amazingly all those wins belong to Triskaidekaphobia but the last of them came in 2005. Suffice to say this is not the strongest race.

The most likely to break their duck is Spic ‘N Span. A speedy front runner he has won 8 times on the all weather. There is no question surrounding his attitude, but he usually finds the quality of turf races too strong to dominate. However, most of his opponents here he has beaten before on the sand, and he won’t find an easier race on grass.

His record a Brighton is good, with four placed efforts from six runs. The last of these was a third place finish a month ago. The horse is also drawn in stall two, ideal to make all. In an incredibly weak race he stands out.
