Brighton Tip: Safari Mischief

Showed promise on his reappearance before fitness told. Should now be cherry ripe and capitalise from the drop in grade.

Peter Winkworth is a trainer who does particularly well with sprinters and he is worth following in the 5.00 at Brighton with Safari Mischief.

For the first time in four years Safari Mischief is eligible to race in a class 5 contest and that is the key. Rated in the low 90s for the last couple of seasons this horse has been racing beyond himself and it has taken time for the handicapper to adjust.

At eight years old, he still retains plenty of ability but needs the ease in class to be competitive again. His record in class five races is 3 wins and 5 placed efforts in only 14 attempts.

Last time out at Kempton, Safari Mischief was travelling better than anything until the last furlong when his lack of sharpness told. That is understandable as it was his first run in almost 10 months.

The stable are consistently underrated in the betting, with Peter Winkworth showing a level stakes profit in four of the last five seasons. A 15% strike rate in 4yo+ handicaps is an outstanding effort for a small yard. The horse has the ability to win this type of race as does the trainer.
