Blue Square Sprint Series: Sulis Minerva

Won her last two starts at six furlongs and looks progressive.

The Blue Square Sprint Series reaches its climax with the grand final at 2.15 Lingfield. Having been through seven rounds the field look thoroughly exposed - half of them are on career high marks - with nowhere to hide from the public or the handicapper.

Norville won this race last year off a mark of 68 and went on to reach a high of 99. It is a case of finding a horse with a progressive profile and there is only one in this field of 12 – Sulis Minerva.

She has won her last two starts at six furlongs and finished a close second in a higher-grade at five, last time out. Although she carries top-weight as a result of this rapid progress she still looks on the upgrade.

Her last two performances have seen her earn speed figures that suggest she could reach a similar level to Norville. She has a high cruising speed and a good turn of foot and strikes me simply as a better horse than her rivals.

Drawn in stall 12, she will need a bit of luck in-running, but there should be a strong gallop allowing her to come from off the pace if she finds herself planted at the back of the field. Raul Da Silva takes off a useful 5lbs and he has the ride having been on board for her last two wins. At 5/1 (Betfred) she will take all the beating.
