Beverley Tips: Hilary J

Won a division of this race last year and excuses for last poor performance. Travelled wide on soft ground over wrong trip.

The 3.50 Beverley brings together last year’s winners of both divisions of the race but they arrive with different form figures to their name. Sandra’s Secret won at Pontefract whilst Hilary J was tailed off at the same track but it’s worth digging a little deeper.

Hilary J was poorly drawn and suffered a very wide trip, on soft ground over a distance that stretches her stamina. She was still there 2f from home but tired and was left to finish in her own time.

Before that she finished 3.75 lengths ahead of Sandra’s Secret at York and is actually 2lbs better off from that meeting. Hilary J has the classier back-form, she placed in a class 2 handicap at the end of last season and started 2017 with good efforts in class 3 and 4 handicaps.

Her record in class 5 handicaps is 131 with the only defeat coming on the all-weather. If she gets a bit of luck from stall 10 she could spring a surprise.
