Betfred Sprint Cup Tip: Heeraat

Has high quality sprint form and 6f his optimal trip; Group 3 winner last time out.

The Betfred Sprint Cup (3.50 Haydock) has a lopsided look to it, with all the pace drawn low and the top-two in the betting drawn in stalls one and two.

The race is likely to develop on the far side of the track but with the market well clued up on Lethal Force and Gordon Lord Byron the value is backing Heeraat in stall 3.

He’s won 5 out of 17 starts, rarely running a bad race and has some high quality form to his name. He’s finished 2.25 lengths and 3.25 lengths behind Sole Power this season over 5f, which is just about the strongest sprinting form in Europe.

However the making of him cold be the step up to 6f. Last time out he beat the smart Hamza in a Group 3 at Newbury proving he gets the trip. After the race William Haggas remarked how Heeraat is usually flat out over 5f but can run a more even tempo over 6f.

I completely agree with the trainer, 6f will prove to be Heeraat’s optimal trip because he can apportion his energy more evenly through the race and save something for this finish.

He also has winning form with cut in the ground, and at 16/1 (Bet365) he is the best bet in the race.
