Ascot: Equitation

Like many runners from his yard, has struggled to find best form post-lockdown but much improved effort when second over an adequate 5f last time out. Ascot suits him and big run expected.

I have no doubt Stuart Williams is an excellent trainer but it’s not been easy for the stable since lockdown. In June/July the yard managed 5 winners from 119 runners and although August is yet to yield a winner (at the time of writing) his horses are running better.

Equitation is a classic example. His first two starts of the turf campaign we non-descript but he was much improved when chasing home Tone The Barone at Ascot. That was over an inadequate 5f and he will be better suited by the step up in trip.

Last season he ran a career best over course and distance, taking a class 4 handicap is a fast time for the grade. It’s a track he clearly likes and off a 2lbs higher mark he should be competitive.
