Arc Betting Shake Up

Galikova half-sister to Goldikova

Trials days at Longchamp changed the Arc De Triomphe picture; Sarafina is clear favourite at 7/2, with Galikova and Reliable Man big movers.

The betting for the Arc De Triomphe in October became slightly more orderly after racing at Longchamp this weekend. Sarafina endured a troubled passage in the Prix Foy but snuck through a gap when it mattered. She is generally 7/2 (William Hill) from 9/2. There were also wins for Galikova and Reliable Man in the Prix Vermeille and Prix Niel respectively.

Galikova, the half-sister to Goldikova was most impressive in winning her fourth race of the season. The three-year-old filly proved she stays the mile and a half, winning with plenty in hand. She is fairly priced at 8/1 (Betfred) having been 10/1 before the weekend.

As well as the favourite, trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre has Reliable Man, another strong Arc prospect. An 8/1 chance with Sportingbet, he has been cut from 20/1. Winner of the Prix Du Jockey Club in June, the horse has some classy form to his name.

Defending champion, Workforce heads the British challenge but at 11/2 (Coral) he has some strong competition for his crown.
