The Topham Chase (3.40 Aintree) is run over the National course and familiarity with these sort of obstacles is a massive help. Although Fistral Beach finished well down the field last year, he should improve for the experience.
He is a horse best fresh, his record running after a break of 60+ days is: 2211.
He started his campaign with a win in a listed contest back in October and although he hasn’t won since, a combination of ground, trip and gap between races have been valid excuses.
On his day he is a talented performer, indeed he was good enough to be favourite for the valuable Racing Post Chase last year. At 25/1 (BetVictor) he is overpriced and a good each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top 5 finish.
