Aintree Juvenile Hurdle Tips: Footpad
Came from rear to finish third in the Triumph and can be rated closer to Ivanovich Gorbatov and Apple’s Jade. Slower surface in his favour.
The 2.15 Aintree brings together the first three from the Triumph Hurdle but they might not necessarily finish in the same order.
As is customary, Footpad was held-up in rear at Cheltenham but that proved the worst place to be in a Triumph Hurdle (102.4% finishing speed) run on the steady side of a true gallop.
Footpad was still nearly last turning for home and managed to overtake the entire field but for Ivanovich Gorbatov and Apple’s Jade, who were both ridden more prominently.
Footpad beat Ivanovich Gorbatov when they met at Leopardstown and there isn’t much to pick between the trio who are evenly matched on Irish form.
A slightly slower surface and/or a strong gallop will favour Footpad and he is the best value of the trio at 11/2 (William Hill).
