Aintree Hurdle Tips: Nichols Canyon
Nichols Canyon is 211 over 20f including when successful over course and distance last year. Can pick up the place money behind Annie Power.
Annie Power silenced the doubters (me included) by winning the Champion Hurdle in fine style. Visually and on the clock she was impressive, making her a worthy favourite of the Aintree Hurdle (3.25).
Such was the magnificence of her win that she is prohibitively priced for Aintree and that creates little pockets of value elsewhere.
My Tent Or Yours and Nichols Canyon were separated by a head in second and third place and they are likely to battle it out for the minor honours again.
In this battle for the minors, Nichols Canyon can reverse the form. His record over 20f is 211 and he won over course and distance last year. Meanwhile My Tent Our Yours was returning from a two-year lay-off and might feel the effects of a hard race, especially over further.
I’m not expecting Annie Power to lose but we can steal some each-way money by backing Nichols Canyon at 5/1 (Stan James) with ¼ odds for a top-2 finish.
