2000 Guineas Tip: Saamidd

native khan't

Looked a real star until flopping in the Dewhurst. Had excuses that day and still a classy sort if able to bounce back.

Wherever you look in the 2000 Guineas the shadow of Frankel looms large. From a purely racing perspective, it would be great if he could live up to his hype. But at 4/7 he is no sort of betting proposition.

Looking at the line up most of these are held by the favourite on one form line or another, including Saamidd. Nicknamed ‘Pegasus’, he came to the racetrack with a big reputation and quickly delivered on it. A winner on his first two starts; he displayed the virtues of a colt with a bright future.

Sent off 7/1 third favourite in the Dewhurst he ran so badly it couldn’t be true. Soon struggling he was soundly beaten by 17 lengths, a defeat later put down to the soft ground. On Guineas’ day he should be a different proposition, the ground will be firmer and the end to end gallop will play to his stamina.

Always considered one of Godolphin’s stars, if he returns to the form he showed when winning the Champagne Stakes he is a lively outsider.
