1000 Guineas Tip: Zoowraa

This unbeaten filly could not have won her races any more easily and her trainer has started the year with a 40% strike rate.

The 1000 Guineas looks to be an open race as you can tell by the number of horses taking their chance. Zoowraa is the one horse that looks over priced. At 25/1 this unbeaten filly has done everything right in her career so the long odds seem a bit harsh.

A smooth winner of her maiden, she stepped up impressively to win a listed race at the backend of last season. Always up with the pace she quickened away nicely to win by three lengths. The way she finished her race you’d expect an extra furlong would be no problem, especially as it was run on very soft ground.

In the winter she moved to Godolphin and is now trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni. The young trainer is in his second season in the UK and things have started well. As if total prize money of £650,000 in year one wasn’t enough; he is running at a 40% strike rate in 2011.

The switch to Godolphin can no longer be seen as a negative yet the horse’s odds have drifted all winter. Zoowraa is unbeaten, looked impressive and is bred to get the trip. At 25/1 she has plenty in her favour.
