Zurich Classic Golf Tips: Chris DiMarco
Struck the ball beautifully last week at Harbour Town; two closing rounds of 68 heralding a return to form.
After five years of poor results owing to injury and personal problems, Chris DiMarco played well at The Heritage last week. If you scratch below the surface there were signs it was coming. The former Masters runner up finished 2010 making 14 consecutive cuts and although he only managed a best finish of tenth the omens were good.
The start to 2011 did not go so well, culminating in a withdrawal from the Honda Classic after an opening 82. However, The Heritage marked a return to form with a T14 finish. Two closing rounds of 68 showed the confidence was returning. More impressive was that he ranked T6 for greens in regulation and T7 for accuracy. The TPC Louisiana favours straight hitting players and if he continues the good form he should be competitive.
Chris DiMarco has mentioned on his twitter account how this is his favourite tournament of the year and a T3 in 2005 bodes well for his Zurich Classic challenge.
