HSBC Champions Tips: Ian Poulter

Best stroke-play results have come in Asia and carded only 3 bogeys last week at the BMW Masters.

Another player riding the crest of a wave after the Ryder Cup is Ian Poulter. Never a player short of confidence, his efforts at Medinah displayed what good shape his golf game is in.

Last week he finished fourth at the BMW Masters, shooting a Sunday best of 65. The Englishman carded only three bogeys all week; the kind of form that will make him competitive at the HSBC Champions.

Playing in Asia also seems to bring the best out in Poulter. Two of his last three stroke plays victories have come in co-sanctioned Asian Tour events, the Singapore Open in 2009 and the Hong Kong Open in 2010.

His record at the HSBC Champions is also good, with two top-15 finishes in his last two starts. Whilst his game is in such good order and with his affinity for playing in Asia, he looks a good each-way bet at 20/1 (Ladbrokes) with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
