Wells Fargo Tips: Robert Garrigus

Finished T9 last year and course suits this big hitter. Arrives in good form with a T13 in his last tournament.

The last five winners of the Wells Fargo Championship have been big hitters, and ranking 3rd on tour for driving distance, Robert Garrigus is a perfect fit. It is surprising to see him quoted at 100/1 (Betfred) considering he has already shown his liking for Quail Hollow with a T9 finish last year.

He arrives in North Carolina in even better form this time round. Three weeks ago, he finished T13 at the Heritage, a big improvement on his T36 in 2011. Considering it’s a tournament played on a tight fiddly course not suited to his game, it was a creditable performance.

Having already finished runner-up twice on tour this season, Garrigus has proved he can mix it with the best. He can be a ‘boom or bust’ selection with four top-25s and four missed cuts this year but at 100/1 (Betfred) he is worth the risk. Back him each way and get ¼ odds for a top-five finish.
