Utah Championship: Corey Conners
Leads the tour for GIRs and recovering from a mid-season slump. Finished T9 at the LECOM Health Challenge last week.
Corey Conners was a player I backed a lot early in the Web.com season mainly due to his exploits in 2016. He finished 6th on the LatinoAmercia money list and 24th on the Mackenzie Tour money list.
His early successes weren’t out of the blue, this is a player who finished runner-up in the 2014 US Amateur Championship and enjoyed a strong collegiate career.
The 25-year-old was always going to make his mark on the Web.com Tour and after opening with consecutive top-10s in the Bahamas, a win looked around the corner. Things haven’t quite gone to plan since and after a mid-season dip he’s on the way back.
Last week he finished T9 at the LECOM Health Challenge and ranked third for GIRs. He leads the tour for the same metric and this could be the week it all comes together.
