Tour Championship: Tony Finau

Played well when it matters. Finished 2-4-8 on last three starts when auditioning for final Ryder Cup spot. Finished T7 on debut at East Lake closing with rounds of 68-66.

Tony Finau has enjoyed a tremendous season, he’s third in the FedEx Cup despite not winning all year. His standing is down to his consistency; in 27 starts he’s bagged 11 top-10s, a phenomenal achievement. It’s also worth noting he’s gone 2-4-8 during the Playoffs when in effect playing a shootout for his Ryder Cup spot.

It shows great courage to get the job done under the pressure and the Tour Championship might be a breeze in comparison. At the BMW Championship he hit a season high 86% for GIRs (ranked second for the week). His putting is still inconsistent but he’s gained strokes on the field in three of his last four outings.

Twelve months ago he finished T7 on debut at East Lake and he deserves to cap a wonderful season with a win.
