The Barclays Tips: Graham DeLaet

Best ball-striker on the PGA Tour and expected to bounce-back from recent dip in form.

Betting markets often overreact to a series of missed cuts and I’m not put off by Graham DeLaet’s recent form.

The 31-year-old has finished 83-MC-MC in his last three starts but they were forgivable. He finished down the field at the Open Championship and straight after a tough week at Muirfield he had to play the Canadian Open because it’s his home championship.

The quick turnaround wasn’t ideal and allied to the pressure of being the world’s leading Canadian golfer, it’s no surprise he struggled.

After a missed cut at the US PGA, DeLaet returns to more standard fair at The Barclays where I expect him to find some form. His main strength is his ball-striking. He ranks first for total driving and second for GIRs and both attributes should serve him well at Liberty National, which is a narrow but lengthy course.

Last season DeLaet finished T5 at The Barclays and on a course that should suit him even better, he is overpriced at 175/1 (Bet365).
