Everyone’s Got Their Bryce

Everyone’s Got Their Bryce

Bryce Molder was runner-up in 2009 and his excellent touch on and around the greens can prove advantageous.

Over the years, TPC Southwind has provided one of the tougher tests on tour. The average winning score for the last five years is a shade better than 10-under and the roll of honour is full of shot-makers rather than bombers.

Brian Gay, Justin Leonard and Ben Crane have all won in the last decade and none are considered long by modern standards but all three are excellent putters.

Bryce Molder falls into the same category. Ranked 178th in driving distance there are courses on the schedule that are simply too long for him, but not this week.

Instead, the 36-year-old can use his scrambling and putting skills to stay in contention. Molder is ranked 14th in strokes gained putting and 11th in scrambling this season.

A runner-up in 2009, he returns to Memphis in good form, without a missed cut in his last five starts and a couple of top-25s thrown in for good measure.

He is a good each-way bet at 125/1 (Paddy Power), with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
