Singapore Open Tips: Louis Oosthuizen

Consecutive top-10s on tour and led the field for GIRs last week in China.

I’m sticking with another South African for my second pick, Louis Oosthuizen. After a quiet year, he is starting to return to the form that saw him crowned the 2010 Open champion. A 5th place at the Alfred Dunhill Links was followed by a T7 at the WGC-HSBC Champions event.

He led the field in China for GIRs, with a superb 91.7% strike rate, by some margin the best of the week. Adam Scott hit 85% of greens in regulation on the way to victory in Singapore last year, proving how important GIRs are in this part of the world.

After a second round 63, the putter went cold for Oosthuizen in Shanghai. He eventually finished ranked 71st for putts per round, despite finishing in the top ten. Second going into the final round it was a tournament that he let slip away. I do not envisage him making the same mistake. At 25/1 (Paddy Power) he rates a cracking each way bet paying 1/5 odds for a top six finish.
