Shriners Hospitals Open Tips: Brian Davis

Best result of 2013 came just three starts back and ranked 31st for birdie average last season.

Last week’s victory for Jimmy Walker proved these early season tournaments (formerly the Fall Series) are ripe for the journeyman pro to break his duck. Walker won on his 188th start so perhaps Brian Davis can score a long overdue win.

The Englishman has finished runner-up on five occasions and if he keeps putting himself in contention, he might eventually fall over the line.

Overall, his form is good; he made 17 cuts last season bagging his biggest cheque a month ago with a T8 finish in the Deutsche Bank Championship.

Davis ranks 31st for birdie average and he hits the balls straight so he’s always going to create plenty of opportunities. A lot will depend on if his putter is working but at 100/1 (Paddy Power) he is worth the risk.

Numerous bookmakers are offering odds of 100/1 but I recommend placing the bet each-way with Paddy Power who are going the extra place and paying ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
