Saudi International: Shane Lowry
Struggled badly on the greens in Dubai but ball-striking was excellent as it was in Saudi Arabia last year on way to a T13 finish. Striking it great, we are just waiting for a good putting week.
Shane Lowry has been bubbling along of late with five top-30 finishes in his last seven starts and it won’t be long until he features near the top of leaderboards again.
The Saudi International looks a good fit, with Royal Greens G&CC having a links-style feel which has been reflected in past leaderboards. Lowry finished T13 here last year but was value for better, ranking second in strokes gained tee-to-green but putting poorly and losing strokes to the field.
It was a similar story last week. Lowry ranked 13th in strokes gained tee-to-green and was third for GIRs only to rank 100th in strokes-gained putting. The Irishman was visibly frustrated in Dubai but the greens were poor; hopefully he can reset with the flat-stick on different surfaces.
The good news, is there’s nothing wrong with the ball-striking and that points us towards another good bet.
