Sanderson Championship: Wyndham Clark
Went off the boil in the second half of last season but early promise means he warrants a second look. 17th here last year and started PGA Tour season with T33 at Safeway Open.
Despite gaining his tour card by finishing 16th on the money list I was still slightly disappointed by Wyndham Clark last season. After recording three top-5 finishes in his first nine starts I thought he was going to tear through the Web.com Tour but in his last nine starts he missed seven cuts and finished no higher than T35.
I therefore approach his PGA Tour season with some trepidation but also optimism that he can fulfil his early promise. A talented collegiate golfer, he was a first-team All-American and a finalist for the Ben Hogan Award.
Also in his favour is that he finished 17th at Sanderson Farms Championship twelve months ago, opening with an impressive round of 66. He did the same thing at the Safeway Open two weeks ago, on the way to a T33 finish.
Stringing four rounds together has been the problem for Clark but at a big price i’m happy to roll the dice.
