On paper, a controversial captain’s pick having lost nearly twice as many matches as he’s won over the years. His fourballs record (W1 L8 H1) is inexplicably poor in particular. Yet few would doubt that the 42-year-old is made of the right stuff. He has got a good singles record (W4 L2 H1) and starred with 5/5 points at the 2011 Presidents Cup.
