RBC Heritage Tip: Bryce Molder

Fantastic iron player and should enjoy a course where his lack of length off the tee isn’t a disadvantage.

Ranked 168th on tour for driving distance, on most courses Bryce Molder is at a disadvantage as soon as he tees it up. It is a testament to the rest of his game that he has six top-25 finishes from eight events this season.

If he is to win, then Harbour Town is the sort of place he is going to do it. Measuring less than 7,000 yards, this par 71 is one of the shorter courses used on tour. The priority is accuracy and this is an area where Bryce Molder excels.

He ranks 3rd for GIRs, 4th for strokes gained putting and 10th for proximity to the hole with his approach shots. Everything about his game is geared around precision.

Recent top-20 finishes at the Northern Trust and the Transitions Championship read extremely well considering they are long courses suited to bombers. Both are par-71 courses yet measure almost 400 yards longer than Harbour Town Golf Links.

Having played the RBC Heritage twice, with a best T22 in 2010, Molder should have required the relevant course experience. At 55/1 (Bodog) the tournament provides him with a fantastic opportunity to register his second tour win. Back him each way and get ¼ odds for a top six finish.
