Phoenix Open: Matt Fitzpatrick

Course debutant but has been in excellent form and no reason why TPC Scottsdale wouldn't suit him. Looks ready to win on the PGA Tour and price inflated by lack of course form.

Matt Fitzpatrick has been in superb form of late and although this is his course debut I think it is over-factored in the betting. He was fancied to go well at Pebble Beach last week and certainly did for a T6 but that is a tournament that throws up odd results; whereas the Phoenix Open has been all class in recent years.

Renovations have made it more of a second shot course and that should suit the Englishman who is 3rd on tour for strokes gained with approaches. His weakness (statistically) is his driving but I think that is less of a factor at TPC Scottsdale nowadays. Webb Simpson manged to triumph here (and lose a playoff) and he is one of the shorter on tour.

A PGA Tour victory looks on the cards this season and Fitzpatrick looks ready to strike.
