Open D’Italia Tips: Seve Benson

Played this week's course when winning the Piemonte Open in 2008. Arrives in good form with a recent T8 at the Wales Open

The Open D’Italia returns to the Golf Club Torino for the first time since 1999, leaving us with little course form other than the 2008 Piemonte Open on the Challenge Tour.

The Golf Club Torino was used in conjunction with the Royal Park G&CC to host the tournament and that leads me to its winner Seve Benson.

It’s hard to find a breakdown of scores by course but Benson won the tournament by three strokes so he must have played them both pretty well. Since then he’s struggled with injury but 2013 is his best year to date, with seven top-25 finishes.

The 26-year-old arrives in Turin in good form having finished T8 at the Wales Open and T26 at the European Masters. A T50 at the KLM Open would also have been much better but for a third round 76, when he could not buy a putt.

At 125/1 (Boylesports) he is an excellent each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
