Don’t Be Herman’s Hermit

Don’t Be Herman’s Hermit

Finished T10 at the CIMB Classic on paspalum greens and one of the best ball-strikers on tour.

El Camaleón Golf Club at Mayakoba Resort has a reputation of rewarding tee-to-green specialists and with potential thunderstorms on all four days the course could soften up and let player fire at pins.

Measuring under 7,000 yards the course is not long my modern standards but you have to be straight and that brings Jim Herman into play.

Last season he ranked ninth in total driving and second in GIRs, exactly the skill set you need this week.

His record at the OHL Classic is moderate, his T23 last year was his highest finish but he enjoyed playing on Bermuda grass greens at a wet Wyndham Championship and the paspalum greens at Mayakoba aren’t that different.

He finished T10 at the CIMB Classic (also paspalum) on his last start and having avoided the Monday finish at the Sanderson Farms Championship, he should have an advantage over his rivals.

Back him each-way at 100/1 (Paddy Power) and get 1/5 odds for a top-7 finish.
