Nedbank Challenge Tip: Shane Lowry

The Gary Player course will provide a stern test at the Nedbank Challenge this week; in the last two three editions only five players have finished double digits under-par. Fairways and greens are hard to find with wind further complicating matters.

In short, it’s not an easy test but that will suit Shane Lowry. The Irishman is finishing a quiet season on the front-foot and was recently runner-up at the equally difficult Valderrama in the Andalucia Masters. Last week he was a never-nearer T14 at the Turkish Open but he ranked second for GIRs, so there is no sign of his ball-striking going off the boil.

Lowry’s course record is 11-25-12 (albeit in limited fields) in three visits and whilst his game is in good shape, it is time to strike.
