Nedbank Challenge: Romain Langasque
Only made three bogeys in Turkey and should be suited by sterner test of Gary Player course. Excellent driver with improved putting sees him ranked 14th on tour for total strokes gained.
Lee Westwood put on an absolute clinic in Sun City twelve months ago and i’m going with another elite ball-striker with the expectation that the putter will behave.
Romain Langasque has enjoyed a strong season and now is on the cusp of breaking into the world’s top-100. The Frenchman is 14th on tour for strokes gained (total) thanks in part to his excellent driving where he is 10th in strokes gained.
His putting has always been suspect, although he is somewhat surprisingly 27th in strokes gained putting this season. Last week he finished 9th in Turkey dropping three shots across his four rounds and he should be suited by the tougher test on offer at the Gary Player CC.
This is his first look at the course but he finished T18 at Le Golf National, another challenging course plus his best result of the season (in terms of finish) came in the South African Open. He looks a winner in waiting and is a good bet at 66/1 with Sky Bet.
