Madeira Open Tips: Cyril Bouniol

Madeira Open Tips: Cyril Bouniol

Big hitting Frenchman who has struggled for form recently but finished T24 last year.

Measuring a mere 6,826 yards the Madeira Islands Open has often been won by big hitters, especially at it’s current venue the Clube de Golf do Santo da Serra. Past champions include Peter Uihlein, Ricardo Santos and Daniel Vancsik.

Cyril Bouniol might be an unfamiliar name but he certainly fits into the same category. The Frenchman is ranked 12th for driving distance on tour and although the rest of his game is often lacking, he could prove to be a lively outsider.

Bouniol was going well for two rounds at Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge until weekend rounds of 75-79 saw him tumble out of the top-20. But there was enough encouragement to suggest the 27-year-old is finding form.

We shouldn’t forget that last season he registered six top-10 finishes on the Challenge Tour, so he has some pedigree at this level.

He finished T24 at the truncated Madeira Open last year and at 175/1 (Bet365), the price is too big to ignore.
