Lyoness Open Tips: Florian Fritsch
Makes the most of a limited schedule and is 3/3 in cuts made at Diamond CC. Ranked 5th for GIRs last year.
After what feels like a stop-start season on the European Tour we are now entering a period of tournaments in Europe and that is great news for Florian Fritsch. Due to a fear of flying his schedule is severely limited but he did enough in just 12 starts to finish 101st on the Race To Dubai last season.
Having played just four European Tour events in 2017, the pressure is on to deliver some immediate results and a T30 at Wentworth was encouraging. Not only did it deliver a big cheque but his overall play was good as he ranked in the top-35 for driving distance, accuracy and GIRs.
Away from the main tour Fritsch has kept himself busy on some of the minor tours and registered a win earlier in the year in the Nordic Golf League.
The Lyoness Open is a step-up in class but his record at Diamond CC is 17-45-51 and last year he ranked fifth for GIRs. A good week on the greens and he could contend for the win.
