John Deere Classic Tips: Rory Sabbatini

Makes birdies for fun, finished T19 last year and arrives on the back of a T9 at the Greenbrier.

My first selection for the John Deere Classic goes against the trends of recent winners but I’m happy to make an exception because of his price.

Rory Sabbatini played the event for the first time in his career last year and finished a highly respectable T19. If it wasn’t for a poor back nine on Saturday he would have finished inside the top ten.

TPC Deere Run looks the ideal course for the South African; Sabbatini ranks 12th on tour for par breakers and makes birdies for fun.

Although he sits 116th in the FedEx Cup standings there have been numerous bright spots this season. He has three top-10 finishes and finished T9 at the Greenbrier last weekend.

The six-time PGA Tour winner is simply too big at 110/1 (Bet365) and is a cracking each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
