Frys.com Open Tips: Steven Bowditch

Finished T2-T12-T17-MC-T29-MC in his last six tournaments to save his card. In good form and T16 here last year.

After a dismal first half of the year, Steven Bowditch finished like a train to earn enough money to keep his card. In large part, this was down to his T2 at the Greenbrier Classic but in his last six tournaments he finished T2-T12-T17-MC-T29-MC.

The Frys.com Open is the start of a new season but Bowditch should be encouraged by the form he has shown in recent months and a return to CordeValle bodes well for the Australian.

The 30-year-old finished T16 last year, one of his best results in a difficult season.  Generally regarded as a bomber, Bowditch has a decent touch around the greens and plays the course well; he ranks second for sand saves and 17th for scrambling on tour.

His putter is often the weak link but a second round 64 last year suggests he’s happy on CordeValle’s greens and he’s capable of getting on a roll.

Several bookmakers are offering odds of 125/1 but I recommend using Paddy Power because they are going the extra place, paying ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
