Mahan In The Hunt At Torrey Pines
Has cracked the top-30 in his last six visits to Torrey Pines and likely to go close again.
Hunter Mahan makes his first start of the year at the Farmers Insurance Open and it is a sensible place to set off given his record at Torrey Pines. In the last six renewals of the event, he has finished T29-T11-T27-T6-T6-T15.
One of the best ball-strikers in golf it is perhaps a surprise he’s won only five times on the PGA Tour. Last season he ranked 8th for total driving, 25th for GIRs and 27th for strokes gained putting.
There aren’t any glaring weaknesses to his game and at 40/1 (Stan James) he is a solid each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
