Farmers Insurance Open: Cam Davis
Led the field tee-to-green at Torrey Pines last year but couldn't buy a put. Returns a PGA Tour winner and two promising results to start the new year. Hits it high and long and suits this course.
Twelve months ago I tipped Cameron Davis for this title and i’m happy to go in with a shorter name but a longer price. ‘Cam’ is 4/4 cuts made at Torrey Pines and his long (and high) ball-flight is ideal for the course.
Indeed, I was correct with my anaylsis last year; he lead the field in strokes gained tee-to-green unfortunately he putted poorly Thursday-Saturday then abysmally on Sunday. Still he manged his best finish of T32 and with plenty of upside.
Davis has started the year with finishes of T10-T27 in Hawaii and looks set for another big run at a more than reasonable 80/1 with Betfair paying 1/5 odds and 8 places.
